Olivia Rodrigo shared a clip of the US Vice President Kamala Harris and supported her, citing her take on the stringent abortion laws.
Singer-songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo has joined the growing list of celebrities supporting Kamala Harris for the US Presidency following Joe Biden’s decision to step back from the upcoming election. The 21-year-old artist, who has been outspoken about women’s abortion rights, recently used her social media platforms to endorse Harris. Rodrigo shared an Instagram Story featuring a TikTok clip of Harris’s speech, where she discusses the importance of accessible abortion and reproductive rights for women.
“In her first campaign rally, Kamala Harris pledges to restore reproduction rights if she becomes president,” read the text in Rodrigo’s story. In the video she has shared, we have a part of the Vice President’s speech in which she says, “And we who believe in reproductive freedom will stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans because we trust women to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do.”
“And when Congress passes the law to restore reproductive freedom, as president of the United States, I will sign it into law,” she adds, amid cheers and hoots of people present in the audience.

Earlier this year, during her Gutsworld tour in southern California, the pop singer announced the launch of Fund 4 Good, which is an initiative for reproductive health. Named after her 2021 hit good 4 u, the fund will reportedly direct a share of ticket proceeds from North American stops of the Guts tour to help eliminate barriers to abortion access. It included covering the cost of the procedure itself, the costs of travel, childcare and lost wages for people who need abortions, reports Rolling Stone.
As for the upcoming US Presidential election, apart from Rodrigo, many other popular celebs have been supporting Kamala Harris for President. It includes actor George Clooney, singer Barbra Streisand, Aaron Sorkin, Spike Lee, Jamie Lee Curtis, British singer-songwriter Charli XCX, John Legend and more.
