Ahead of Diwali and Chhath Puja, the Indian Railways flagged off India’s longest Vande Bharat Express Train, designed to enhance the nation’s expanding high-speed train network.
The new train, connecting Patna, the capital of Bihar to New Delhi, started its journey from the national capital on Wednesday at 8:25 am and is scheduled to reach its destination, covering 994 km, in 11 hours and 30 minutes by 8 pm.
According to the Indian Railway Ministry, the special train will be operated on a trial basis, making stops at Arrah, Buxar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Prayagraj and Kanpur. The new Delhi-Patna Vande Bhrat Express promises to offer passengers a fast and luxurious travel experience.
Notably, the train will run on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Delhi to Patna and on Monday, Thursday and Saturday from Patna to Delhi. It will depart from Patna at 7:30 a.m. and arrive in Delhi at 7 p.m, according to Mint.
The train does not provide a sleeper class for the passengers and the chair car is the only seat type available. Reportedly, the Indian Railways will soon introduce a Sleeper Coach in the Delh-Patna Vande Bharat Express.
What’s the fare for the Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Express?
Ticket prices for the new Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Express are set at Rs 2,575 for the AC Car-Chair and Rs 4,655 for the Executive Chair Car.
The train services commenced on October 30, with subsequent trips scheduled on November 1, 3 and 6. However, the return service from Patna to Delhi will be available on November 2, 4 and 7.
Earlier, the longest Vande Bharat was between New Delhi and Varanasi, covering a distance of 771 kilometres in just 8 hours.
Apart from this, the Indian Railways recently started another Vande Bharat train from Lucknow to Bihar’s Chhapra Junction, allowing the passengers to travel back to their home state for Diwali and Chhath Puja celebrations with ease and comfort.
Train number 02270 departs from Lucknow at 2:15 PM and reaches Chhapra at 9:30 PM, stopping at Sultanpur, Varanasi, Ghazipur, Ballia, Suremanpur and finally Chhapra. It runs six days a week, with no service on Tuesday.
