As winter approaches, traffic arrangement have been tightened on the 165.5 km-long Yamuna Expressway from Greater Noida to Agra. Taking strict action against speeding commuters on the Yamuna Expressway, traffic police issued over 150 e-challans within eight hours, starting from 6:30am on November 7.
Currently, the speed limit on the expressway is set at 100 kmph for light vehicles and 80 kmph for heavy vehicles, a measure introduced due to lack of visibility in winter season.
Fines For Speeding
Light vehicles violating the speed limit are fined Rs 2,000, while heavy vehicles face a fine of Rs 4,000. To ensure safe travel during winter, the speed limit may be further reduced between December 15 and February 15, with limits of 75 kmph for light vehicles and 60 kmph for heavy vehicles.
Road Safety Initiatives
November is observed as ‘Road Safety Month’ by the traffic police, with various awareness programmes being held in Noida and Greater Noida. Events were conducted on Thursday at locations, including Okhla Bird Sanctuary Metro Station, Sector 94, and Kalindi Kunj. Additional speed-control drives are also planned on the Noida Expressway, which links Noida and Greater Noida.
