Electric buses registered in Telangana up to December 31, 2026, will also enjoy lifetime exemptions from road tax and registration fees.
The Telangana government has announced a 100 percent exemption on road tax and registration fees for all electric vehicles (EVs) in the state.
This move, under the new EV policy starting Monday, aims to encourage residents to adopt eco-friendly transport.
According to Telangana, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar shared on Sunday that the policy aligns with the state’s goals of promoting environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. He also highlighted plans to expand EV infrastructure, including installing more charging stations and offering incentives to manufacturers.
Electric buses registered in Telangana up to December 31, 2026, will also enjoy lifetime exemptions from road tax and registration fees. However, these buses must be operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.
Additionally, buses owned by industries for transporting their employees, provided they are not used for commercial purposes, are eligible for the same benefits.
This initiative is expected to provide a significant push to EV adoption in Telangana, making clean energy transport more accessible and affordable.
