This year, Bihar has become the first state to release the School Holiday List 2025. So far other states have not released their holiday calendar. In Bihar, the maximum number of holidays are given on the occasion of Chhath as compared to other festivals. Chhath is the most special festival of Bihar and on this occasion, schools remain closed for 3-4 days every year. Apart from this, schools in Bihar are also closed during summers and winters.
However, this calendar of holidays is not mandatory for private schools. Teachers and students of government schools in Bihar will also be given summer and winter holidays. This year, that is, in 2024, the holidays of government schools of Bihar were cancelled. Due to this, teachers and students were very upset.
Teachers and students in government schools of Bihar will be given a 20-day summer vacation. Apart from this, there will be 7 days of holidays in winter. However, these can also be extended according to the weather. Schools will remain closed for 10 days from Dhanteras to Chhath Puja next year. This will give a lot of relief to teachers and students. Apart from these holidays, leave is also given in case of heavy rains and other changes in the weather.
In the Bihar holiday calendar for the year 2024, 60 days of holidays were scheduled for government schools. But during the summer vacation and even when it was very hot, teachers had to do duty in the school. Students were also called in some schools. Then the schools were closed after news of many children fainting and falling ill came in the media. Out of the 60 declared holidays in 2024, teachers were able to take leave for only 30 days.
