JSW Group, led by Sajjan Jindal, is gearing up to introduce its own electric vehicle (EV) brand in India.
In a recent interview, Jindal stated, “Our goal is not to be an extension of a Chinese company selling products in India. We want to manufacture and add value in India, and sell in India,” as quoted by ET.
As part of its strategy, JSW Group acquired a 35 percent stake in MG Motor India last year, through a $1.5 billion deal with China’s SAIC Motor.
Additionally, the group plans to invest Rs 27,200 crore in a new EV manufacturing plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Jindal confirmed that this facility will focus on their upcoming EV venture.
With its own EV brand, JSW Group aims to rival well-established names like Tata Motors, Mahindra, and Hyundai. However, Jindal has not yet revealed any specifics about the EV models in the pipeline.
