The all-new ninth-generation Toyota Camry has been officially launched in India, priced at Rs 48 lakh (ex-showroom).

This premium sedan, which first debuted internationally over a year ago, continues with its eco-friendly petrol-hybrid engine, making it one of its standout features. Toyota has confirmed that deliveries will start immediately.

Built on the TNGA-K platform, the ninth-gen Camry features a striking new design. The front of the car boasts Toyota’s “hammerhead” styling, with a sharp nose, slim LED headlights, and daytime running lights. A narrow grille links the headlights, while the ‘T’ logo sits higher than before. The new design also includes Lexus-inspired bumpers, a bold character line along the side, redesigned 18-inch alloys, and new C-shaped LED tail-lights.

The Camry is available in six exterior colours: Precious Metal, Dark Blue, Cement Grey, Emotional Red, Attitude Black, and Platinum White Pearl.

Inside, the Camry impresses with a redesigned dashboard, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment. It supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and comes equipped with a nine-speaker JBL sound system, a 10-inch head-up display, and digital key functionality.

The rear seats include a reclining function, controlled via a centre console. For added comfort, the front seats are ventilated and power-adjustable in 10 ways, and the car features three-zone automatic climate control and a sunroof with a retractable sunshade.

Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0, which includes autonomous driving assistance (ADAS) features like pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, lane-tracing assist, radar-based cruise control, road-sign assist, and automatic high beam for better night visibility, comes as standard. Additionally, the Camry is equipped with nine airbags, parking sensors front and rear, and a 360-degree camera.

Under the hood, the Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine paired with Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). This setup delivers a total output of 230 bhp, an increase of 12hp compared to the previous model. Fuel efficiency has also improved, with an ARAI-rated figure of 25.49 kmpl. Like other hybrids in Toyota’s lineup, the Camry uses an eCVT gearbox.

According to Autocar, the latest Camry is priced Rs 1.83 lakh more than its previous model, which was priced at Rs 46.17 lakh. Despite the price increase, the new Camry remains Rs 6 lakh cheaper than its closest competitor in India, the Rs 54 lakh Skoda Superb.

In terms of pricing, the new Camry also competes with luxury sedans like the Audi A4 (Rs 46.02 lakh), Mercedes C-Class (Rs 54.40 lakh), and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine (Rs 60.60 lakh).

Toyota offers an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty on the battery pack. The Camry will continue to be assembled at Toyota’s Bidadi plant in Karnataka, following the CKD route since the seventh-generation model was introduced in India in 2013.
