Maharashtra is set to upgrade 132 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aiming to enhance passenger convenience.

These stations will feature improved safety, larger capacity, and modern amenities to ensure a smoother travel experience, as announced by the Ministry of Railways on Twitter.

According to The Financial Express, the redevelopment will focus on meeting the growing demands of passengers while providing top-notch infrastructure. Key improvements include better crowd control, clear signage, clean and spacious waiting areas, and advanced surveillance systems for added safety.

The scheme also prioritises holistic station development, improving station aesthetics, accessibility for differently-abled passengers, and introducing eco-friendly initiatives like energy-efficient lighting.

These efforts are in line with Indian Railways’ goal of creating sustainable, passenger-friendly infrastructure.

The project will cover both urban and rural stations, addressing the needs of a wide range of passengers. With this initiative, Maharashtra is set to become a leader in providing state-of-the-art railway facilities.
