Ahead of the Delhi elections, Arvind Kejriwal, convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), introduced two major schemes—Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana—with registration already underway. Under the Mahila Samman Yojana, the AAP government promises ₹2,100 per month to every woman in Delhi. Meanwhile, the Sanjeevani Yojana offers free healthcare for senior citizens above the age of 60. However, the implementation of these schemes has raised concerns, especially from the Delhi government’s Women Welfare and Child Development Department. The BJP has quickly criticized AAP’s initiatives, accusing the party of using these promises as a tactic to woo voters ahead of the elections. BJP MPs have voiced their skepticism, alleging that these schemes are just an attempt to deceive the public for political gain. The growing political debate has added to the intensity of the election campaign.
