Anupamaa, the Rupali Ganguly starrer show has captivated audiences through its strong narrative, emotional storytelling and relatable characters. The telly series recently came under the spotlight after the makers went for a sudden cast change. Now, fresh reports suggest that the lead actress Rupali is also planning to quit the show soon.
Reportedly, Rupali, who has been an integral part of the show since its inception, will be leaving the show in three months. If the rumours are true, her departure will be a turning point for the show. Rupali’s portrayal as Anupamaa has been essential to the show’s success, therefore, the news about her exit came as a big surprise for all the fans.
As per Pinkvilla, quoting industry sources, her departure will likely coincide with the formation of a love triangle between the new protagonists. However, the makers and the actress are yet to comment about the same.
The show recently witnessed a 15-year leap in the storyline which led to a major change in the star cast. The new storyline focuses on new lead characters Prem (played by Shivam Khajuria) and Raahi (played by Adrija Roy). It now focuses on their growing love story, which dramatically reduces Rupali’s screen time.
In 2024, actor Sudhanshu Pandey and Gaurav Khanna, who were a major part of Anupamaa, announced their departure from the show. Recently, actress Alisha Parveen, who played Rashi, was replaced overnight by the makers without any prior notice. However, her sudden exit left the fans wondering if the lead actress Rupali was involved in the sudden change of events.
Alisha, in turn, accused Rupali of misbehaving on the sets and being insecure about her rising stardom. However, in a recent chat with ABP, the 47-year-old actress firmly refuted all of Alisha’s charges. She emphasised that she has been a part of the show for several years and has never asked the producers to change any sequences for her convenience. Rupali also questioned how Alisha could claim to have any influence over who should or should not work on the show. Alisha was replaced by actress Adrija Roy.
