Elon Musk’s xAI has officially rolled out the standalone Grok AI app for iPhone users, marking a significant step forward following its beta testing phase in December 2024. This app, currently available exclusively to users in the United States, is still in its beta stage and provides features comparable to those offered in its integrated version on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).
The launch aims to expand access to Grok’s capabilities, delivering an advanced AI chatbot experience to a broader audience.

Grok AI App For iPhone: Details
The release of the Grok app also builds upon X’s introduction of a free-tier model for the AI assistant. Previously, users were required to subscribe to X Premium, starting at $8 per month, to access Grok’s features. However, the updated free-tier option allows users to make up to 10 requests every two hours and three image analysis requests per day. These restrictions are similarly applicable to those using the newly launched iOS app, offering a more accessible way to engage with the AI.
Beyond standard chatbot interactions such as those offered by competitors like ChatGPT or Gemini, the Grok AI app distinguishes itself with additional features. Users can generate high-quality AI images and obtain responses to real-time developments by leveraging information sourced directly from the X platform. The app further allows users to upload files and images for detailed AI analysis, a feature that enhances its versatility. Additionally, Grok supports the creation of custom visuals using text prompts, offering functionality akin to advanced image-generation tools like DALL-E 3.
The Grok AI app offers convenient features, including integration with iOS Control Center, Siri, and Shortcuts, making it easier for users to access its capabilities. It also includes a useful widget designed specifically for the Lock Screen. However, there is currently no information available regarding the release timeline for the Android version of the app.
