The Mumbai Police registered an FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for armed robbery and attempt to cause death or grievous hurt and house-trespassing, after Saif Ali Khan’s house help Eliyamma Phillip filed a complaint of attack on the actor at his Bandra residence.
DCP (Zone IX) Dikshit Gedam, after her statement, said that the method of the intruder’s entry into the house was unclear as there were no signs of forceful entry. The police said that the attacker was seen leaving the building through stairs in the CCTV cameras. He also stared at the camera while going downstairs. The police have constituted multiple teams to nab the accused.
What Did Saif’s House Help Say?
Phillips recounted the sequence of events to the police and said that she first heard the sound of the intruder barging in at around 2.30 am. She thought Kareena Kapoor had come to check on her son.
“I thought Kareena had come to see Jeh (Jehangir) baba and went to check. I didn’t see her and went back to bed. But I thought something was amiss, and when I went back to look, I saw the shadow of a man. He came out of the bathroom and tried to enter Jeh baba’s bedroom. I immediately raised an alarm.”
According to the FIR, the attacker used a hacksaw blade as the weapon.
A police source told Times of India that Kareena returned home just a few minutes before the incident took place.
“Three maids, one male servant, actor Khan and his wife confronted the intruder before he attacked the actor with a knife. When they tried to nab him, he locked himself up in a room. Kareena rushed Khan down to take him to the hospital. It is suspected that this was when the intruder managed to escape,” the TOI quoted the police as saying.
