Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Fans Booked For Killing Goat At Tirupati Theater


Tirupati police registered a case against a group of fans of actor Nandamuri Balakrishna after they reportedly killed a goat outside Pratap Theatre in Tata Nagar of Tirupati. The fans took to the act in order to ‘celebrate’ the release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film ‘Daaku Maharaaj’.

Following this, based on a complaint from PETA India, the police registered a case. They been booked the persons under various sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, 1950 and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. 

Tirupati DSP Venkata Narayana confirmed the arrest of five individuals and stated that efforts are underway to identify others involved.

In its complaint, PETA India highlighted that animal sacrifice is prohibited under Section 4 of the Andhra Pradesh Animals and Birds Sacrifices (Prohibition) Act, which forbids participation in or assistance with such acts during public or religious gatherings. Section 5 prohibits the sacrifice of animals at public places of worship, while Section 6 outlines penalties for violations.

DSP Narayana told ANI: “At around 3:30 am, fans of Balakrishna sacrificed a goat in a public place. This incident was videographed by different people and posted on various social media platforms. We received the information, and upon inquiry, it was revealed that the incident had occurred. A complaint was filed by Mr. Madan Mohan Naidu, a head constable, and a case was registered.”
