From Lal Chowk To Attari-Wagah Border & India Gate: Iconic Sites Illuminated In Tricolour For R


As India is set to celebrate the 76th Republic Day on January 26, several key sites across the country were lit up in tricolour on Saturday to commemorate the day. Some of these sites included the iconic clock tower at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Somnath Temple in Gujarat, North Block, India Gate, and Qutub Minar in Delhi among others.

The historic clock tower, popularly called the ‘ghanta ghar’ was seen illuminated in tricolour on the eve of Republic Day.

Other locations in Srinagar, which were illuminated in tricolour included d the scenic Rajbagh riverfront, the picturesque Dal Lake, M A Road, Jehangir Chowk to Rambagh Flyover, Polo View market, Balidan Stambh and the historic Old Zero Bridge, creating a festive atmosphere in the Valley.

“This initiative aims to instill a sense of pride and patriotism among residents as they come together to celebrate the Republic Day,” officials there told news agency PTI.

Visuals from Attari-Wagah border in Punjab illuminated in Tricolour, on the eve of Republic Day also surfaced.

On the eve of Republic Day and National Voters’ Day today, the iconic Qutub Minar in Delhi was illuminated in colours of the tricolour and Voter Awareness Program.

With Delhi set to host the Republic Day parade at the Kartavya Path on January 26, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate, North Block, and South Block, as well as several other prominent buildings in the city were illuminated in tricolour.

Somnath Temple in Gujarat was decked up in tricolour lights ahead of the Republic Day.

The Bandra-Worli sea link in Mumbai, Maharashtra looked spectacular as it was lit up ahead of the Republic Day.

The Southern Railway Headquarters in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Raj Bhavan in Kolkata were also illuminated in tricolour hues on the eve of Republic Day.
