Pragya Jaiswal is riding high on the success of her latest release, Daaku Maharaaj. The film’s release date coincided with the actress’ birthday, making it even more special for her. Its blockbuster performance in terms of box-office collections despite competition from Game Changer and Sankranthiki Vasthunam also added to Pragya’s excitement. Brimming with joy, the actress recently reflected on her emotions for the film’s success. She also addressed the age gap between her and Nandamuri Balakrishna with whom she collaborated for the second time.

In a chat with Hindustan Times, Pragya Jaiswal said, “I feel the year started off with a bang for me, and I couldn’t have asked for more. Daaku Maharaaj was a Sankranthi release that coincided with my birthday, and since then, I’ve been enjoying the love pouring in for the film, especially for my role as Kaveri.”

Pragya Jaiswal portrayed an engineer-turned-daaku in the recently released film, something she had never done before. Shedding light on her role, she continued, “No one imagined me as a daaku, and now people are calling me daaku maharani. She’s so accomplished, de-glam, hair tied up…it was a different ball game to play Kaveri. She’s so different from anything I’ve ever done before that I was worried when the film was released about how people would receive it.”

The primary reason why Pragya Jaiswal said yes to the film was the ‘powerful’ role of a pregnant woman who also does action. Her character, Kaveri, has to protect her unborn child and fight for a cause that screams the strength of women in general, as per the actress.

The conversation continued as Pragya shared her views on working with Nandamuri Balakrishna in the film. Calling him respectful, collaborative and a nice person, the actress added that there is so much to learn from him. Speaking about the growing age gap between male stars and their female leads, Pragya opined that casting is done based on a role and added that “as long as justice is done to the story and role, I feel there’s nothing to talk about.”

Before Daaku Maharaaj, Pragya Jaiswal was also seen in Khel Khel Mein, co-starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor and others.
