Traffic changes are being implemented in Chennai on January 31 due to the arrivals of Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. These changes coincide with a planned protest by the Congress in response to Amit Shah’s visit.

Vice-President Dhankhar and Amit Shah are set to arrive in Chennai on Friday evening to participate in the wedding of former vice-president Venkaiah Naidu’s grandson in Mamallapuram.

To facilitate their commute, the Metropolitan Traffic Police has declared traffic changes from 2 pm to 10 pm. Drivers heading from the airport to the East Coast Road (ECR) are recommended to take the Old Mahabalipuram Road as a substitute route. Furthermore, commercial vehicles will be barred from using the route between the airport and the ECR.

Congress State President Selvapperundakai has, meanwhile, declared that the party will organize a protest against Union Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Tamil Nadu. They intend to display black flags to convey their disapproval of what they consider “defamatory remarks” made by Shah against BR Ambedkar.
