Shark Tank India Season 4 is undoubtedly capturing viewers’ attention with compelling pitches, innovative startup stories, and insightful business discussions. The season continues to hog the limelight significantly, and the latest episode is no different. The business reality show recently dropped a promo where the creative minds – Rahul Tyagi and Samiksha Yadav – pitched their brand, Ugees, India’s first undergarment liquid wash, to the panel of ‘sharks.’ The two sought an investment of Rs 50 lakh in exchange for 2.5 per cent equity at a valuation of Rs 20 crore.

The panel of investors seemed to be sceptical. Anupam Mittal pointed out that the industry already offers several detergent options that have similar claims, and Aman Gupta raised concerns about the categorisation of the product, questioning its distinct positioning in the market.

Anupam added, “There are many detergent options, including clean and green ones. Why are you complicating this? Your approach threw me off.”

Explaining their business, the founders said that their brand product primarily caters to women’s hygiene, making it an essential innovation rather than just another detergent. Anupam and Namita stepped in and critiqued their approach, arguing that the duo should have focused on the pressing issue of female hygiene rather than presenting it humorously as a “male best friend chaddi” washing detergent.

Namita added, “You started your pitch with humour, but vaginal infections are a major concern. You should have led with that instead.”

During the conversation, Peyush Bansal questioned, “Who is the CEO?” Samiksha confidently responded that she was the CEO of Wanderlooms. To this, Peyush asked, “Why are you the CEO?”

Before she could reply, Namita interjected, “Why not?” and Samiksha firmly added, “Because I deserve to be the CEO.”

Her assertive response won praise from sharks Aman, Namita, and Anupam, while Rahul backed her up, saying, “She deserves it.”

Impressed by their conviction, the Shaadi.com founder offered them Rs 50 lakh for 5 per cent equity. Namita and Aman, on the other hand, teamed up to propose Rs 50 lakh for 6 per cent equity. The founders tried to negotiate and bring all three Sharks, but Namita declined. In the end, Anupam countered, “I will agree at 4 per cent, but if you don’t decide now, I’ll tear the check.”

After a quick discussion, the entrepreneurs closed the deal with Anupam Mittal and walked away with an offer that validated their passion and determination alike.

Coming to Shark Tank India Season 4, the business reality show features eight sharks that are undoubtedly injecting new life into the industry with their lavish investment decisions. The sharks include Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Anupam Mittal, Vineeta Singh, Kunal Bahl, Ritesh Agarwal, Peyush Bansal and Viraj Bahl.
