Honda has officially received E20 compliance for its entire range of cars in India, including the City, City e:HEV hybrid, Elevate, and Amaze.
The carmaker has achieved this milestone well before the government’s April 1, 2025, deadline, which will require all combustion engines, including hybrids, to meet E20 standards, as per Autocar.
As for the older Honda owners, the company has confirmed that all four-wheelers made since January 1, 2009, are also E20 compatible. This means drivers of these cars can use E20 petrol without worrying about durability issues or the need to replace parts vulnerable to corrosion.
E20 Petrol: All You Need To Know
E20 petrol is a blend of 20 percent anhydrous ethanol and 80 percent regular petrol. The key benefit of using E20 is that ethanol burns cleaner than petrol, reducing harmful emissions.
However, E20’s main downside is the corrosive nature of ethanol, which can absorb moisture from the air. In engines that aren’t E20 compliant, this could lead to damage to rubber, plastic, and soft metal parts.
