A plane crash occurred in a residential area of Vinhedo, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, on Friday, leaving the extent of casualties and injuries unclear. The aircraft, operated by VoePass, was carrying 58 passengers and 4 crew members, according to the airline’s statement. The cause of the accident remains unknown, and firefighters have been dispatched to the crash site, news agency AP reported. Footage from Brazilian television network GloboNews showed a large area engulfed in flames and smoke emanating from the plane’s fuselage.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva observed a minute of silence at an event in southern Brazil, AP reported.
