The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar has taken swift action following allegations of misconduct involving its staffers during protests over the death of a 20-year-old Nepali student. The incident, which unfolded on Monday, has sparked outrage among the university community and beyond.
In response, KIIT issued an apology and confirmed that it had suspended three officials, including two hostel staffers and a security official, who were accused of misbehaving with Nepali students during the protests. The university’s administration expressed deep regret over the incident, which it said was not in line with its values of inclusivity and respect for all students.
