One person has been killed and four others have been injured in a stabbing incident in Haifa city of Israel on Monday. The deceased was a man aged around 70, while a teenage boy, a man and a woman have been injured.
The suspect behind the deadly stabbing attack is an Israeli citizen, a police spokesperson said, according to The Times of Israel.
The incident unfolded at the suspect got off the bus at the Hamifratz station and started stabbing people. The unnamed suspect, an Israeli citizen who also held German citizenship, was shot at the scene by the security forces, the report added.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered his condolences to the victim’s family and extended his wishes for a speedy recovery for the four people who were injured.
“We will continue to fight those who seek to take our lives everywhere — and we will defeat them,” Netanyahu said in a statement.
