A disturbing incident of teen violence has surfaced in Vithura, Thiruvananthapuram, after a brutal assault on a 16-year-old boy came to light through a shocking video found on his mother’s phone. The incident, which allegedly occurred on February 16 in Panayode, Tholikode, has sparked widespread concern over rising youth aggression in the region.
According to police, the victim was lured out of his home by three former classmates, who then took him to a banana plantation and assaulted him, as per a report on Mathurubhumi. The attackers—who completed their 10th grade last year—reportedly accused the boy of making inappropriate remarks to a girl. The entire attack was captured on video and the assailants allegedly threatened the victim to remain silent.
Video Of Attack Goes Viral
The footage, which has since gone viral, shows the terrified boy pleading for mercy, repeatedly insisting he did nothing wrong. Despite his pleas, the attackers slapped and punched him in the face, interrogating him during the ordeal, as per the reports. The video also reveals the use of weapons intensifying concerns over violence among teenagers.
The victim’s mother discovered the distressing video on her phone, prompting the family to file a police complaint with the Aryanad Police Station, reported Times of India. Following the investigation, the three accused were taken into custody and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board.
However, in a move that has triggered mixed reactions, the board ordered their release with mandatory counselling sessions.
Recurring Youth Clashes In The Region
Adding to concerns, another video showing a brutal fight among teenagers near Changampuzha Park, Ernakulam, has also gone viral.
The footage depicts a group of youngsters engaged in a violent brawl, further highlighting the growing trend of youth aggression in Kerala.
Locals have pointed out that student fights and gang clashes have become a recurring problem in the area. Reports indicate that a similar violent altercation took place last year, necessitating police intervention.
