‘Russia-Ukraine War Could End Up In World War III’: Donald Trump

A week ago, the world was witness to an ugly spat between the Presidents of two nations in the Oval office — a scene that was unprecedented — when Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine got into an argument. US President Donald Trump had then warned his Ukranian counterpart that the latter was gambling with World War III by refusing to compromise and come to a “deal” with Russia.

‘US Will Exit Mediation If…’

Now, Trump has said that the Russia-Ukraine war could snowball into World War-3 if not settled quickly. “…If they [Russia and Ukraine] don’t want to settle. We are out of there. We want them to settle, and I am doing it to stop death…I watched over the last week or so what’s going on in Europe. This thing could end up in World War 3 if we don’t get it settled. We gotta get it settled.

He reiterated his threat of further sanctions on Russia if President Vladimir Putin refused to stop the attacks on Ukraine. “Based on the fact that Russia is absolutely ‘pounding’ Ukraine on the battlefield right now, I am strongly considering large-scale banking sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and final settlement agreement on peace is reached,” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump called on both Russia and Ukraine to “get to the table before it was too late”.

‘Russia-Ukraine War Would Never Have Happened If I Were The President Then’

Trump further said: “I think he [Putin] is doing what anybody else would do. I think he wants to get it stopped and settled. He is hitting them harder than he has been hitting them… He wants to get it ended, and I think Ukraine wants to get it ended, but I don’t see it. It is crazy that they are taking tremendous punishment…The war would have never happened if I were the President…”

Earlier, the UK said that it had moved a part of a £2.26bn loan, backed by the profits of immobilised Russian assets, to Ukraine. Following this, Russian officials said that the Kremlin now had every right to confiscate UK properties in Russia as “the UK had violated international laws”.
