Delhi-Bound Air India Flight Forced To Make U-Turn To US After 10 Hours Due To Clogged Toilets

A Delhi-bound Air India flight was forced to make an emergency U-turn to Chicago reportedly after nine of its 10 toilets were clogged. The flight had already covered a 10-hour journey before it landed back in the US on March 6.

However, the airline in a statement said the decision was taken due to a technical issue.

“AI126, operating Chicago to Delhi on 6 March 2025, air-returned to Chicago due to a technical issue. Upon landing at Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and have been provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination,” an Air India spokesperson said.

A PTI report citing a source said the flight operated by Air India has 10 lavatories, including two for first-class passengers. The aircraft has over 340 seats, including first, business, and economy class.

The airline spokesperson also said that passengers who opt for full refunds on cancellations and complimentary rescheduling are also being offered this option.
