In the wake of a major cyberattack that disrupted operations on X (formerly Twitter), Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora has extended an offer to assist in tracking down the perpetrators.
Arora, reportedly the highest-paid Indian-origin tech CEO in the United States (with a compensation of $266.4 million), responded directly to Elon Musk’s post on X, where the Tesla chief revealed that the platform was under a large-scale cyber assault. “Let me know if we can help trace and remediate,” Arora wrote in reply to Musk’s message.

Musk Reveals Scale of Cyberattack
Musk had earlier acknowledged the cyberattack in a post, stating that X faces security threats daily, but this particular incident was far more severe. “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing …,” he wrote.
His post was in response to speculation from DogeDesigner, an X user, who suggested a possible pattern in recent incidents affecting Musk-related entities. “First, protests against DOGE. Then, Tesla stores were attacked. Now, X is down. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that this downtime is the result of an attack on X,” the user posted.

Pro-Palestinian Hacking Group Dark Storm Claims Responsibility
Meanwhile, a pro-Palestinian cyber group known as Dark Storm has taken responsibility for the attack. The group shared screenshots on Telegram, allegedly showing evidence of their involvement in the hacking attempt.
According to a report by news agency Reuters, an anonymous industry source revealed that X was targeted by multiple waves of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. These attacks, which aim to overload systems by flooding them with excessive traffic, caused outages that peaked at around 40,000 reported disruptions.
While Dark Storm has claimed credit for the breach, Musk has suggested a different theory. Speaking in an interview, he claimed, “There was a massive cyber attack trying to bring down the platform with IP addresses originating in the Ukraine area.”
As investigations continue, X remains under heightened security measures, with experts working to trace the origins of the attack and reinforce the platform’s defenses.
