The top player in the four-wheel segment, Skoda Auto Volkswagen, the India subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group has unlocked a new milestone. According to the details, the company has released its 500,000th engine from its plant in Maharashtra’s Chakan.

The company has been ruling the market with over t half a million engines, produced by the same facility. The Chakan plant serves as the production hub for the company, making the engines for multiple models for years.

Statement from brand

While confirm the news over an official release, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India releaed an stemen saying, “achievement reflects our commitment to localisation, innovation, and global excellence, strengthening India’s role as a key manufacturing and export hub for the Volkswagen Group.”

All About Chakan Plan

Talking about the Chakan plant, it has been decades now since this facility in India came into existence. It began operations in 2009, and since then the plant has produced some hot-selling models over the years. The list includes the iconic Volkswagen, Polo, Vento and Ameo.

Apart from this, it has also released Skoda Fabia and Rapid, which now has been discontinued due to poor sales.

As per the company’s 2.0 strategy for India, the latest models such as Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Kushaq, and the new Kylaq, are assigned to be produced from this facility only.
