A hilarious gaffe by Rajiv Adatia during the recently aired episode of Celebrity MasterChef left everyone in splits. The foot-in-mouth moment came as the contestant accidentally addressed judge Farah Khan as “aunty”. The ensuing exchange only added to the light-hearted moment. Adatia made the blunder while he and his fellow contestants prepared for a Holi-themed cooking challenge.
Farah Khan Taken Aback
The challenge saw him teaming up with his sister, Deepa, who appeared on the show as his sous chef. As Farah Khan lauded the duo’s synergy and complimented Deepa for her outfit, Rajiv reportedly asked her, “Hamari shakal milti hain na, aunty? (Our faces match, don’t they, aunty?).” Taken aback by the remark, Farah replied by expressing her disbelief at what she just heard and playfully threatened to ruin Rajiv’s chances of winning the challenge. It resulted in the other participants and judges erupting in laughter.
Farah and Rajiv’s overall equation is believed to be a sweet-bitter one. Last month, Rajiv spoke about the feedback he had been getting from the judges. Focusing particularly on Farah’s critique, he said, “As someone with no prior cooking experience, I have put in my best effort to create good dishes. While I may not have the same level of expertise as others, I am fully committed to improving. I understand that Farah’s feedback is meant to be constructive, and I value her guidance. However, I am here to compete and prove that hard work and dedication can overcome inexperience.”
Much of Farah Khan’s criticism of Rajiv’s work in the initial weeks focused on his culinary representation, specifically his plating technique.
