The Verdict [Fake]
The viral image of a woman seemingly holding the skeletal remains of a child has been digitally generated by an Instagram user.
What is the claim?
An AI-generated image has gone viral on social media with claims it shows a woman from Gaza who discovered the remains of her child while searching through the rubble of her home after a year.
The viral photograph is overlaid with an Arabic text that reads, “Gaza-Palestine.” The claim has been shared across multiple social media platforms, including YouTube, X, Instagram, and Threads.
An X user shared the image and wrote, “A mother holds the remains of her son in Gaza, After more than a year and a half of searching for him Under the rubble of her house that was bombed by the occupation army! Oh, the pain of the heart” (Google Translated from Arabic). At the time of writing this story, the post had amassed over 128,000 views and over 4,600 likes. A reverse image search led us to a photograph uploaded by Instagram user “in.visualart” on March 21, 2025 (archived here), featuring the same image of a woman holding a skeleton.
The original Instagram post (archived here) features multiple other images with captions indicating that they were digitally created using artificial intelligence tools. The note in the caption of the post reads, “(Note: This visual representation is an Al-generated image created for illustrative purposes. + photoshop ). This confirms that the viral image was created digitally and does not depict an actual scene.

The viral image circulating on social media had been cropped, with the text overlaid on the image and the watermarks missing from it.
The original image features overlaid text that reads, “GLORY TO MOTHERS WHO ENDURE THE UNBEARABLE WITH A DIGNITY THAT HUMBLES THE WORLD (sic).” The Instagram image also features a watermark that reads “Designed by in.visualart”, indicating that the user is the creator of the image.
The in.visualart Instagram account (archived here) is run by digital artist Islam Nour. Some of Nour’s digital work promotes boycotting the products of companies linked to the Israeli state, calls for a ceasefire, and campaigns for children in Gaza (archived here, here, and here).
The verdict
The viral image is AI-generated. The creator of the image, Instagram user in.visualart has explicitly stated that the image was generated using Photoshop and AI-powered tools.
