Television actor Kanwar Dhillon is currently part of the series Udne Ki Aasha. The actor is winning hearts with his nuanced portrayal of Sachin Deshmukh in the Star Plus show. Known for his charismatic on-screen presence and compelling performances, the actor has carved a niche for himself in the television industry.
In a recent interaction with Pinkvilla, Dhillon disclosed his condition before deciding on OTT projects and films. He praised television as a safe medium of work, stating, “Television will always be the safest option, no matter what stage you’re at in your career.” The actor further mentioned that he finds Udne Ki Aasha special “because Sachin is not your conventional lead. He’s raw, layered, and real—and that excites me.”
Dhillon, who consciously chooses roles that break away from stereotypes, is selective about OTT and film projects, seeking substantial stories that he deserves rather than just seeking a big screen presence. “OTT and films are definitely welcome additions, but I won’t do them just to be on a 70mm screen. The content has to be substantial and something I deserve,” the actor said.
Dhillon works extensively, often shooting 27-28 days a month, and values comfort and connection on set. The actor reflected on his relationship with his girlfriend, Alice Kaushik, describing it as a natural evolution of spending time together on set. “Your co-actors often become family. That’s how it happened with Alice and me during Pandya Store—it was a natural evolution of spending so much time together,” he added.
Dhillon finds solace in his makeup room and calls it his “second home,” where he unwinds between shoots. “I’ve made it my second home. From cozy lighting to all the essentials, it’s my place to unwind between hectic shoots,” the actor said.
Though he believes acting is an evolving craft, he is proud of being a one-take artist and credits television for providing strong training, believing it enables actors to excel in any medium. “TV trains you well. If you’ve learned your craft on television, you can thrive in any medium,” he added.
Kanwar Dhillon stars in Udne Ki Aasha opposite Neha Harsora, who plays Sailee. In addition, the show also features Sanjay Narvekar, Puru Chibber, Tanvi Shewale and Devashish Chandiramani in key roles.
