Chum Darang, a dynamic and multi-faceted personality from Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, has steadily made a mark across multiple domains—be it modeling, acting, entrepreneurship or social activism. With grace, determination and a deep connection to her cultural roots, she has carved a niche for herself in the national spotlight. Her major breakthrough came with the reality television show Bigg Boss 18, where her composed demeanor, sincerity and emotional intelligence stood out amid the high drama of the competition. Her genuine nature struck a chord with audiences across the country, helping her reach the Top 5, where she ultimately secured 5th place, earning admiration from both fans and fellow contestants.
Recently, Chum shared peaceful and spiritually rich glimpses from her visit to the revered Pashupatinath Temple in Nepal, one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites. In the shared images, she is adorned in a beautiful and traditional Indian attire—likely a salwar kameez—designed with elegant motifs in shades of pink, red, and blue. A yellow scarf gracefully rests around her neck, while a light-toned headscarf gently covers her head, reflecting both humility and reverence. Alongside the images, she captioned her post with heartfelt simplicity: “Love and light to all. Jai Pashupatinath,” paired with the deeply devotional track “Namo Namo” from the film Kedarnath, invoking a sense of peace and spiritual awakening.

She soon followed this with a notable role in the socially relevant Bollywood film Badhaai Do, sharing screen space with established actors like Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar. Her rising stature and impressive acting skills caught the attention of legendary filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who cast her in his widely celebrated film, Gangubai Kathiawadi, further cementing her place in the Indian film industry.

In a move that highlights her love for her roots and her desire to give back to her hometown, she opened Café Chu in Pasighat three years ago. What started as a humble café has now become one of the town’s most beloved spots, known not only for its cozy ambiance and good food but also as a cultural hub that draws visitors from across Arunachal Pradesh. The cafe’s growing popularity mirrors Chum’s own rising fame, and it stands today as a symbol of local pride and enterprise.
