In a recent interview, the actor has opened up about his acting journey in the TV industry.

During an interview with Tellychakkar, the actor was asked about his remarkable acting growth from a side actor in Tujhse Hai Raabta to portraying the lead role in Saru. To which Shagun replied, “Mujhe yaad hai, ek show hota tha, Tujhse Hai Raabta jisme Reema Shaikh heroien thi, Sheban Azim hero the. Zahir si baat hai ek system hota hai. Sonali hamri producer hua krti thi main zee par hota tha. To main kaha main kese hogo ki mujhe lead role offer hoga, kese hoga ki main perform krunga. (I remember, there used to be a show called Tujhse Hai Raabta in which Reema Shaikh was the heroine and Sheban Azim was the hero. Obviously, there is a system. Sonali used to be our producer, and I used to be on Zee. So I used to say How will I be offered the lead role? How will I perform it?”

“Bhai Aurton (Women) ka itna haath raha hai na…Mujhe banane main itni aurton ka hath laga hai, (Women have had such a great role to play… so many women have played a huge part in making me)” he added, talking about his experience working with different female producers in several shows.

He further spoke about the initial struggling days, when he left his home to make a career in acting. Shagun recalled how he had no money to have a proper breakfast or lunch. He claimed that there was a time when he just used to leave for work on an empty stomach.

The actor added, “Us time set par kai senia aurtain hoti thi, bhabhi, mummy, behne, co-star, jinhone khana khilaya. In strong mahilao ne mujhe kaam diya hai. Itna to inhone mujhe empower kiya hai, main bus kahani main saru ko empower kar raha hu. ( At that time, there used to be many women on the set, Bhabhi, mummy, sister, co-stars, who fed me food. These strong women have given me work. They have empowered me so much, I am just empowering Saru in the serial.”

The actor concluded that when nature helps you when you need it the most, you should always return it without any hesitation.
