Congress To Launch ‘Jai Hind’ Rallies Nationwide, Demands Clarity On Ceasefire

Congress announced on Wednesday that the party will take out ‘Jai Hind’ rallies across the country to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on ‘ceasefire’ and mediation by US President Donald Trump. Earlier on Saturday, President Trump said that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire and claimed that it was a result of US-mediated talks.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” the US president announced in a post on Truth Social.

Earlier, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the opposition will question the government at the all-party meeting regarding US President Donald Trump’s claims that his administration helped broker a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha said he will urge the government to call an all-party meeting soon.

India and Pakistan reached an understanding on Saturday to end the military conflict after four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes. The Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan reached an understanding to stop all firings and military actions.

On Tuesday, AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also asked the government to clarify what transpired behind the sudden ceasefire. He, however, praised the Congress’s announcement on Wednesday that the party will take out ‘Jai Hind’ rallies across the country to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on ‘ceasefire’, mediation by US President Donald Trump.
