The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is back on Indian roads, priced at Rs 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Positioned as a premium choice in the entry-level adventure touring segment, it brings Kawasaki’s signature design and a parallel-twin engine to the table.
The Versys-X 300 shares its DNA with the larger Versys models, as per Bikewale. It comes equipped with a 296cc, parallel-twin engine—the same one used in the Ninja 300. It delivers 38.5 bhp at 11,500rpm and 26.1 Nm of torque at 10,000rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch for smoother gear changes.
Despite its premium positioning, the Versys-X 300 misses out on features seen in rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. It lacks modern tech and has a smaller engine compared to the competition. Also, at nearly Rs 1 lakh more than its rivals, it feels expensive in a value-driven market. Notably, it misses out on modern touches like tubeless tyres.
The Versys-X 300 runs on wire-spoke wheels, 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, but they’re not tubeless. This may disappoint off-road enthusiasts. The bike has a kerb weight of 184kg and 180mm of ground clearance.
While it may not match its rivals in features, the Versys-X 300 stands out for its smooth twin-cylinder engine and Kawasaki’s brand appeal.
