Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, has once again reaffirmed its dominance in the domestic automobile market by retaining its position as the country’s leading car manufacturer.
In May 2025, Maruti Suzuki reported sales of 1,80,077 vehicles, marking a 3% increase compared to the same month in 2024. A key contributor to this growth was the Maruti Eeco, which accounted for 12,327 units of the total sales.
India’s Cheapest Seven-Seater Car
The Maruti Eeco, offered in five, six and seven-seater configurations, has long been a staple in the Indian market. Known for its utility and affordability, it remains the country’s most budget-friendly seven-seater, priced at Rs 5.70 lakh. Demand for the Eeco continues to be strong, with May 2025 recording its highest sales in the past seven months.
Having recently completed 15 years in the market, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco has crossed 12 lakh units in cumulative sales since its launch. Its enduring popularity is reflected in its average monthly sales of 11,391 units in the last calendar year—outpacing several compact and midsize SUVs.

Engine And Power
Under the hood, the Maruti Eeco is equipped with a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K-Series petrol engine delivering 80hp and 104Nm of torque. The CNG variant produces 71hp and 95Nm of torque. Both versions are paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the Eeco may not offer many modern features, it includes optional air conditioning and essential safety equipment such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seat belt reminders for the driver and front passenger.
