WATCH | Lucknow Airport Scare: Sparks Fly As Saudi Airlines Plane Lands

A potentially catastrophic incident was narrowly averted at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport early on Sunday, June 15, when a Saudi Airlines aircraft arriving from Jeddah emitted sparks during landing. The flight was carrying around 250 passengers when the dramatic moment unfolded at approximately 6:30 am IST.

According to a video doing the rounds, sparks were clearly visible near the landing gear as the aircraft touched down. The sudden flash raised alarms among ground staff and officials, prompting swift emergency measures.

Sparks Near Landing Gear Trigger Emergency Response

The sparks originated near the plane’s landing gear — an area that, if compromised, can lead to serious technical failures. While the exact cause remains under investigation, preliminary assessments suggest a possible glitch during descent or touchdown.

Airport officials acted quickly, ensuring the aircraft was brought to a halt and passengers were evacuated in an orderly and safe manner. There were no reported injuries, and the runway was temporarily cleared to facilitate safety checks and a detailed inspection of the aircraft.

Saudi Airlines has yet to issue an official statement about the cause of the sparks or potential mechanical issues involved.

Fortunately, thanks to the timely response by the crew and airport emergency teams, a major accident was avoided. As investigations continue, this near miss has raised fresh questions about aircraft maintenance and in-flight safety procedures.

Though all passengers escaped unharmed, the incident has sparked unease among frequent flyers.
