A three-storey building collapsed in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar area on Saturday evening, trapping approximately a dozen people under the debris. The incident occurred around 5 pm, with the building, used as a godown, reportedly undergoing some construction work at the time of the collapse. According to officials from the Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner’s office, ten individuals were injured in the incident, news agency PTI reported. They have been rescued and transported to a hospital for treatment. Rescue operations are ongoing, with senior police and administrative officials present at the site to oversee the efforts.
Speaking to news agency ANI, Lucknow’s District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar reported one fatality and indicated that another person is feared to be trapped. The evacuated individuals are being taken to the hospital for medical care.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is closely monitoring the situation and the ongoing rescue operations, according to PTI.

“Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed to the scene and are working to extricate the trapped individuals,” said Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar.
