The Tata Harrier EV was officially launched in India on June 3, 2025. However, just a day before the launch, it took on a unique challenge that set it apart—it became the first car to successfully climb the famous Elephant Rock in Kerala. Tata EV shared the video of this impressive feat on its official YouTube channel, where it has already gained over 5 million views.

Inspired by the Harrier’s stunt, a Tata Tiago EV owner recently attempted the same climb, and footage of the attempt has gone viral on Instagram, drawing widespread attention on social media.

The video of a Tata Tiago EV attempting the Elephant Rock climb was shared on Instagram on June 10 and has quickly gone viral, racking up over 1.1 million views and more than 50,000 likes.

In the clip, the driver confidently claims that his car is also capable of taking on the challenge. He then asks a friend for help before getting into the vehicle and slowly starting the climb.

As the Tiago EV began its climb up Elephant Rock, it was halted within seconds by a security guard. The guard instructed the driver to stop and turn back, advising him to first get official permission from the authorities before attempting such a risky move. The driver had no choice but to reverse the vehicle and abandon the attempt.

The Elephant Rock climb in Kerala is extremely dangerous, reportedly featuring a steep 34-degree incline, where even a small slip could result in a fatal fall, making safety a top concern.

As per reports, the path the Harrier EV took wasn’t a proper road but a steep and dangerous 34-degree slope. Even the powerful Harrier EV found it hard to climb. Also, Tata had used a team of professionals to safely carry out the stunt.

The Tiago EV, being a smaller and less powerful electric car, likely wouldn’t have made it to the top. There was a high chance it could have slipped and fallen. The Tiago EV is a front-wheel-drive hatchback meant for regular roads, not risky stunts like this. It might have handled the first part of the climb, but the final stretch is very difficult and unsafe for such a car.
