Apple To Unveil Macbooks Powered By M4 Chips In The Coming Weeks? Here’s What We Know

Apple is gearing up for its next event, which will spotlight the latest generation of MacBooks, featuring the new and advanced M4 chips. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is preparing to unveil these new MacBooks in the coming weeks. In his latest newsletter, Gurman indicates that the new Mac lineup will be powered by the M4 chip, promising substantial improvements in processing speed and machine learning capabilities. He highlights that the M4 chip is expected to deliver up to 1.5 times the CPU performance of its predecessor, the M2, and offer up to four times the rendering power for tasks such as video editing and 3D design.

Similar to the iPhone 16 series, which incorporates the A18 chip for AI tasks, the new MacBooks are anticipated to feature Apple Intelligence integrated into the M4 chip. Although specific details about this AI functionality are yet to be revealed, it is expected to enhance the user experience with new automation features, personalized recommendations, and smarter system management within the Mac ecosystem.

According to the report, a number of new Mac models might be launched at the upcoming event. Here’s a list of those models:

  • Model J604: Apple is set to introduce a more budget-friendly 14-inch MacBook Pro equipped with the M4 chip, offering high-performance capabilities at a lower price point.
  • Model J614 and J616: Apple will also launch premium 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros featuring advanced M4 chip options, delivering enhanced processing power tailored for professionals who require exceptional performance.
  • Model J623: Apple is set to introduce a refreshed iMac equipped with the M4 chip, offering improved desktop performance.
  • Model J773: The Mac mini is getting an upgrade, with both standard M4 and M4 Pro variants available. This compact yet powerful desktop is designed for users seeking top-tier performance in a smaller package.

Regarding availability, Gurman speculates that while most new Mac models are prepared for shipping, Apple might opt for a simultaneous release. Certain high-end MacBook Pros and the M4 Pro-powered Mac mini are still in production but are expected to launch with the rest of the lineup.
