At least two people were injured after mutiple shots were fired outside a court building in the northwestern German city of Bielefeld, said the police on Wednesday. One suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident that has left one of the two wounded in critical condition.
As per local media reports, the shooters targeted relatives of a defendant in a trial that was being heard inside the court. The police also said in a statement they could not rule out a connection with a trial taking place in the court, reported Associated Press.
German news agency dpa, quoting police sources, reported that the incident was being treated as a targeted attack on people linked to the case.

According to a court spokesperson, the shots were fired shortly after the hearing concluded, reported German public broadcaster DW.
A trial is underway in the court against a suspect on murder charges in the death nearly a year ago of a former boxer, Besar Mimani, who was fatally shot in Bielefeld.
Two men have been accused of opening fire at Nimani firing 16 shots, killing him as he left a barber shop on the city’s high street. The trial is being undertaken under high security with police guarding the court building. Visitors, witnesses and reporters are being checked before being allowed to enter the court.
