Breaking: Nature’s Fury Unleashed in Northeast India, Floods Wreak Havoc Across Several States | ABP NEWS

The northeastern states of India are reeling under severe floods triggered by relentless rainfall, with Assam and Manipur among the worst affected. Over 78,000 people across 15 districts in Assam have been impacted, as rivers overflow into residential areas, turning cities and villages into submerged landscapes. Manipur, too, is facing a grave crisis. As per official data, 1,981 people have been affected and around 3,365 houses have been destroyed. In the capital Imphal, the situation is critical. Visuals from the city show rescue teams navigating flooded streets with boats, replacing vehicles that once filled the roads. Bulldozers are also being used to evacuate people trapped in their homes, carrying them to safer locations. Relief and rescue operations are underway with the army, police, and disaster management teams working around the clock. People have been forced to abandon their homes and take shelter in relief camps. The scale of devastation highlights the vulnerability of the region to extreme weather events. States like Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Mizoram are also facing the brunt of the disaster. The unfolding situation underscores the urgent need for long-term flood management and disaster preparedness in India’s northeast.
