Helicopter Services To Kedarnath To Resume, Pilgrims To Get Concession
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Tuesday that the helicopter services to Kedarnath will resume on Wednesday. He also said that the pilgrims will be given a 25 per cent concession on the fare.
The decision was taken after Dhami conducted an aerial inspection of the rain-ravaged Kedarnath trek route. The CM also reviewed the relief and rescue operation that was carried out over the past few days.
“The focus now is on restarting the pilgrimage to the Himalayan shrine by road at the earliest, the chief minister told reporters in Rampur. The damage is largescale. The route has been breached at 29 places by landslides. Water and power supply lines have been hit and telecommunication disrupted,” Dhami said.
He added that the rescue mission could be carried out on such a large scale due to the “collective effort by the disaster management department, the district administration, the SDRF, NDRF, the priest community and public representatives.”
Congress’s Maha In-Charge Meets Uddhav, MVA Seat Sharing Talks To Be Held On Aug 7
Congress’ Maharashtra incharge Ramesh Chennithala met with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday. Thackeray is currently on a three-day visit to Delhi.
The Congress leader told news agency PTI that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) would likely discuss seat-sharing for Maharashtra assembly polls on August 7 in Mumbai.
Thackeray is expected to meet key Opposition leaders, including Leader of Opposition Leader in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi during his three-day Delhi visit.
Thackeray embarked on his first visit to Delhi after the MVA, which comprises Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) bagged 31 out of 48 Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra.
Chennithala told PTI that the meeting with Thackeray at Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut’s residence was informal.
“As Thackeray heads the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Chennithala is the Congress incharge for Maharashtra, the discussions were obviously about the state and the upcoming elections,” Raut said, adding that Thackeray is scheduled to meet Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi.
The report also stated that the I.N.D.I.A bloc leaders are likely to hold a meeting in Delhi this week.
Maharashtra, a key state for BJP and Congress, is going to the assembly polls in October this year.
