The Chinese electric car maker Build Your Dreams or BYD is gearing up to introduce a new e-SUV called Atto 2. It has been reported that the model is likely to arrive in the European market at the start of next year. However, the brand has yet to reveal an exact launch date.
The news has been confirmed through a press release via Green NCAP – an extension of Euro NCAP. The organisation is specialised in testing the safety of electric vehicles. It has been confirmed that the Atto 2 will hit the European market in January 2025.
Production
Initially, the Atto 2 will be produced in China before expanding to its latest facility in Hungary. Talking about the overall dimension, it will measure 1,830 mm in width, 4,310 mm in length, and 1,675 mm in height, and will have an overall weight of 1,590 kg.
As the name suggests, BYD Atto 2, will be positioned one step below compared to ongoing Atto 3. It is the same model that is available in the Indian market as well.
Battery
Some reports suggested that the EV will be offered in only one variant, featuring a robust 42.4 kWh battery pack that will offer a maximum range of more than 300 km on a single charge (as per the European WTLP cycle).
When it comes to the design, Atto 2 will flaunt the company’s signature style statement, featuring a boxier front fascia, and an uplifted nose. It will be treated with an LED headlight setup, paired with integrated DRLs.
Interior
Inside, it will be treated with a fully digital 8.8-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment system. The unit will support all wireless car connect technology including Android, Apple, and Auto Car Play. The other notable features include a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, wireless charger, heated & power-adjustable front seats, and multiple charging sockets among others.
