Rajiv Adatia has been impressing the audiences and the judges with his impeccable culinary talent in the cooking-based reality show Celebrity MasterChef. In the recent episode, he became the only contestant to impress the Chefs with the dish that he prepared during the Cook-Along challenge with Chef Manu Chandra. After getting praised, Rajiv opened up about his journey and recalled how his passion for cooking began during a challenging time in his life.
He said, “I am a businessman from London, an artist, comedian and an event organizer. My love for food is what brought me to the Celebrity MasterChef stage. Jab sab bacche bahar khelte the, toh main hamesha kitchen mein hota tha (When most kids played outside, I would always be in the kitchen). Cooking has shaped my entire journey.”
Recalling a tragic period in his life, the Bigg Boss 15 fame shared, “When my father was hospitalised, my mother struggled to balance her job and care for him. I was just 12 or 13 when I started cooking. Ek dard, frustration ke waqt jab aap cooking karte ho toh sab release hota hai (In moments of pain and anger, cooking became an outlet—it’s therapeutic for me).”
Dedicating the judges’ appreciation for his dish to his mother, Rajiv further said, “She (Rajiv’s mother) used to tell me, dekho aur sikho, ek din ye sab kaam aayega (Watch and learn, one day this will help you).’ I grew up observing her prepare roti, rice, dal, and pasta. When the judges complimented my dish and called it amazing, I owe it all to her. I feel really fortunate to bring my mother’s tastes and my father’s blessings to the MasterChef kitchen. Without my mother’s training, I would not be here today.”
He went on to say that everyone thinks he is just playing around, but he is quite serious about the show. Farah Khan, on the other hand, complimented him, “You are reaching your peak at the right time, aise he chalte rahoge toh I will see you in the finale.”
