The breakthrough was made possible by the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) that completed its task under Phase 4, marking a significant step in the 26km Golden Line project.

The new line will also benefit residents from nearby Gurugram, who will be able to easily access the Golden Line at Chhattarpur.

Delhi Metro achieved a major milestone in its Phase 4 expansion, completing an underground tunnel at Vasant Kunj station along the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor.

As per TOI, the tunnel was completed using the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) as part of the 26km Golden Line project, which is set to improve travel for commuters across Delhi.

PTI posted a video regarding the same that stated “Delhi Metro’s Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) completes breakthrough in Vasant Kunj under the Aerocity-Tughlakabad Corridor being built under Phase 4.”

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attended the ceremony, thanking the DMRC and all involved for their efforts. He emphasised the significance of the Golden Line, especially the interchange at Chhattarpur Metro Station, which will allow seamless connections with other metro routes.

This new line will also provide better access for residents of Gurugram, who can easily board the Golden Line at Chhattarpur. As part of the Phase 4 expansion, DMRC is building 40.109km of underground tracks, with the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor covering 19.343km.
