Schools in Delhi-NCR are going to conduct classes in hybrid mode as part of the anti-pollution measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4. The decision comes into effect from Monday night due to the severe Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital.

According to the GRAP 4 guidelines, the State Governments in NCR and the GNCTD have mandated schools to conduct classes for students from classes VI to IX and XI in a hybrid mode—both physical and online—wherever feasible.

This directive applies within the territorial limits of Delhi, as well as the districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddh Nagar. Additionally, NCR State Governments are encouraged to adopt this hybrid model in other areas of NCR to ensure seamless education for students.

Noida Schools Timing Changed

The administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar has ordered all schools in the district to start classes at 9 AM from Tuesday due to cold weather conditions.

“In view of the extreme cold, as per the instructions given by the District Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar, classes in all schools will start from 9 am till further orders. In this regard, all the principals are instructed to ensure strict compliance of the above instructions,” Dharmveer Singh, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) said in an official order.

The measures were taken after Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 400, with AQI recorded at 399 at 9 PM and 401 at 10 PM on Monday.

Following the implementation of GRAP Stage 4 on Monday night, schools in Delhi-NCR are required to switch to a hybrid mode for all classes, except for grades 10 and 12. Orders regarding this are expected to be issued today by the respective district authorities.

Some Schools Not Following Guidelines

Under GRAP Stages 3 and 4, schools in Delhi-NCR for classes up to grade 5 must operate in hybrid mode. However, some schools in Noida are still asking students to attend physical classes despite having the resources for online learning.

Speaking to News18.com, a parent, Ayesha Singh, said, “Noida schools are very much offline; they have not declared hybrid classes. The little kids are still forced to go to school in this condition just because DM Noida can’t issue the order!”

Another parent, Kavita, complained about schools not adhering to the revised timings. She said, “Some schools are still not following the directions issued yesterday regarding the time change. My child goes to school in Noida, and the school timings have not changed.”
