The upcoming railway station at Bodaki in Greater Noida is all set to be one of North India’s most modern train hubs.
Officially named Greater Noida Terminal, the station will act as a gateway from Delhi-NCR to the eastern part of the country. Once completed, it will handle up to 100 trains, including Vande Bharat and other premium services, as per TOI.
What Makes It Special?
The terminal will cover 46 hectares, forming part of a larger 176-hectare multimodal transport hub. Here’s what to expect:
- 12 platforms
- 63 yard lines for train maintenance
- Ground floor for railway operations
- Upper floors filled with shops and offices, creating a smart mix of transport and business.
The new terminal is less than an hour from the Noida International Airport, making it a key link between Delhi-NCR and eastern India.
A Fully Integrated Transport Hub
Greater Noida Terminal will be more than just a station. It will include:
- An inter-state bus terminal
- A local bus depot
- A metro corridor connecting Bodaki with the Depot station.
Zones and Connectivity
The project will be split into two zones:
- Zone 1: 130 hectares for transit and commercial use
- Zone 2: 46 hectares for the railway terminal and its associated facilities
Connectivity has been a major focus. The terminal will link to:
- The Delhi-Howrah railway line
- Major roads including a 60-metre arterial road and a 105-metre expressway-grade corridor
These will provide easy access to NH-34, Knowledge Park I, and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
Who’s Building It?
The master plan is being crafted by DMIC-IITGNL, a joint venture between the Centre’s NICDIT and Greater Noida Authority, with both owning 50 percent stakes.
Here’s the plan:
- Indian Railways will build the station.
- The SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle) will manage finances and develop extra facilities like bus terminals and utilities.
