Sumbul Touqeer stepped into the world of glitz and glamour at a young age. After her parents’ divorce when she was six, her father, Touqeer Hasan Khan, took on the responsibility of raising his two daughters single-handedly. To provide a better future for them, he moved to Mumbai.
A choreographer by profession, Touqeer’s dedication to his craft deeply influenced both Sumbul and her sister, Saniya. Inspired by her father’s passion, Sumbul developed an interest in dancing and participated in dance reality shows like India’s Dancing Superstar on StarPlus in 2013. The following year, she ventured into television, starting her career as a child actor. From there, her journey in the entertainment industry only soared.

HAR MUSHKIL KA HAL AKBAR BIRBAL (2014)
Sumbul played Aflatooni Bachchi in this historical comedy series, where Kiku Sharda portrayed Emperor Akbar and Vishal Kotian played Akbar’s seventh jewel, Birbal. The actress appeared only in one episode.
JODHA AKBAR (2013-2015)
Jodha Akbar, starring Rajat Tokas as Emperor Akbar and Paridhi Sharma as Jodha, was one of the most loved serials on Indian television. In 2014, Sumbul played the role of child Mehtab in four episodes of the show.
GANGAA (2015-2017)
In 2015, Sumbul bagged a role in &TV show Gangaa, starring Aditi Sharma and Vishal Vashishtha. The actress appeared in 19 episodes of the show as Neha, Gangaa’s classmate.
BAALVEER (2012-Present)
Sumbul appeared in two episodes of this fantasy television series. She played Gungun in Baal Veer, with Dev Joshi playing the lead role. The show first started in 2012 and has been renewed for five seasons to date.
WAARIS (2016-2017)
Starring Arti Singh, Neel Motwani and Farnaz Shetty, Waaris was a turning point in her career. She appeared on several episodes of this television show, where she portrayed the role of young Gunjan Pawania.
DIL HI TOH HAI (2018-2020)
Sumbul appeared in the first season of Dil Hi Toh Hai, starring Karan Kundrra and Yogita Bihani. She played a minor role as Taashu. The romantic drama under Ekta Kapoor’s production house had three seasons.
CHANDRAGUPTA MAURYA (2018-2019)
The 21-year-old actress portrayed Shubhada, Sukhdev’s daughter and Chandragupta’s friend, in the historical drama Chandragupta Maurya. Faisal Khan played the titular role.
IMLIE (2020-2024)
Sumbul was catapulted to fame once she played the lead role in Star Plus’ serial Imlie, which also featured popular actors like Gashmeer Mahajani, Mayuri Deshmukh and Fahmaan Khan.
KAVYA EK JAZBAA, EK JUNOON (2023-2024)
Sumbul’s next big role was in Sony TV’s serial Kavya—Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, where she portrayed the titular character. The series revolved around IAS Kavya Bansal Pradhan, who faced various challenges in her professional and personal life.
ARTICLE 15 (2019)
Apart from television, Sumbul also appeared in Ayushmann Khurrana’s crime drama Article 15. In the 2019 film, she portrayed Amali Singh, whose storyline revolved around caste-based discrimination.
