Heavy Rainfall To Lash Parts Of India. Yellow, Orange Alert In These States


Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to lash most parts of India on Thursday as several states have been placed under red, orange, and yellow alerts. 

According to the India Meteorological Department,  many parts of Northwest, central, east, and northeast India are likely to experience heavy downpours in the next six days. 

An orange alert has been issued by the weather department for Punjab, Uttarakhand, parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Odisha. 

The water department has also issued a yellow alert for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, North East, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.

West India 

Heavy rain is likely to lash isolated places over Konkan, Goa,  Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra,
Gujarat region and isolated heavy rainfall over Saurashtra and Kutch till July 1, as per the IMD. 

Northwest India

Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West and East Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Jammu Kashmir are likely to receive heavy showers. 

Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are also likely to accompany heavy rain in these states. 

East, Central India 

Isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha,
and Gangetic West Bengal has been predicted by the IMD. 

The weather department has forecast light/moderate rainfall at most places in the North East region accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning for the next six days. 

South India 

The IMD has predicted isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu, and Coastal Karnataka.
