However, Holashtak begins precisely eight days before Holi, ending with Holika Dahan. These eight days are considered ominous, during which all auspicious activities are prohibited. Moreover, specific actions are advised to be avoided during Holashtak.
Pandit Nandkishore Mudgal, a renowned astrologer from the Mudgal Astrology Centre located at Pagal Baba Ashram in Jharkhand’s Deoghar told Local 18 that Holashtak, commencing exactly eight days before Holi, is considered highly inauspicious as the nature of all planets turn fierce during this period. It is believed that performing auspicious deeds during this time results in adverse outcomes.
When Is ‘Holashtak’ Starting?
The astrologer stated that according to the Rishikesh Panchang, Holashtak will commence on March 7, 2025, and conclude on March 13, 2025.
During this time, it is advisable to refrain from engaging in specific activities and religious observances.
What Not To Do During ‘Holashtak’?
According to the astrologer, certain activities and religious practices should be strictly avoided during Holashtak, as they can negatively impact life. These include:
- Initiating any auspicious work: The astrologer advises against undertaking any auspicious work during Holashtak, as it can lead to unfavourable consequences.
- Performing Yagya Havan: Performing Yagya Havan during Holashtak is considered inauspicious and should be avoided.
- Shopping: It is advisable to refrain from purchasing items such as gold, silver, vehicles, or land during Holashtak.
- Starting new work: Astrologers recommend against initiating new ventures or businesses during Holashtak, as it can have a detrimental effect on their success.
What To Do During ‘Holashtak’?
The astrologer suggests that worship is not prohibited during Holashtak. It is recommended to worship Lord Vishnu or Lord Shiva and chant Mahamrityunjay mantras, as this can have a positive influence on life.
