Hyderabad Man Booked For Ambulance Adventure, Took Dog To Op ‘With Sirens On To Beat Traffic’


The Hyderabad traffic police caught an ambulance being used to transport a pet dog with its sirens blaring. The driver, identified as Lakshminarayana, was booked for misusing emergency services.

The incident unfolded near Panjagutta traffic police station during a routine inspection drive. The ambulance, speeding from Himayatnagar towards Madinaguda, was flagged down for verification, as reported by News Meter. Expecting to find a patient inside, officers were stunned to discover a pet dog in a cage instead.

Upon questioning, Lakshminarayana admitted that he was taking the dog to Ivy Hospital in Madinaguda for a neutering procedure, reported The New Indian Express. He also confessed to using the siren to navigate through traffic quickly, treating the trip as an emergency.

Authorities swiftly seized the vehicle and registered a case against the driver for misusing an emergency response vehicle. The incident has sparked discussions on the misuse of medical transport services, with officials emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement against such violations.

Kerala Doc Obstructs Ambulance 

Earlier, a physician in Kannur district was fined and charged for reportedly blocking an ambulance transporting a critically ill patient. The event took place in Eranholi, Thalassery, and was caught on camera. The police reported that the ambulance was moving along Nayanar Road when a car allegedly refused to yield despite repeated siren alerts. The car’s driver was identified as Rahul Raj, a doctor operating a private clinic in Iritty, a nearby town.

The ambulance driver lodged a complaint, accusing the car driver of obstructing the emergency vehicle and causing a delay. Based on the complaint, Kathirur police filed a case against the doctor under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Rukiya, whose heart condition had worsened, was being transferred to a private hospital in Thalassery on the recommendation of doctors at Mattanur Mission Hospital.
